The Kevin Ryan-trained Juan Elcano and Ashby Underwriting sponsored Andrea Atzeni made a late run to win the Listed Wolferton Stakes on the first day of Royal Ascot.
The listed race ran over 1m2f, looked likely to be won by joint favourite, Patrick Sarsfield, but with a late run from Andrea and Juan Elcano the duo won by half a length. Juan Elcano became the eighth Royal Ascot winner for Andrea Atzeni on the first day of the meeting in the colours of owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid.
